On Saturday 31 October the finals of our club championships for 2015 were played and decided.
Our Club Champion for the third year in a row is Tony Vaughan who took a full eighteen holes to shake off a tenacious challenge from Nathan Crudden to finally win 2 up. This also was Nathan's third runner up trophy in the last six years. Our B Grade Champion for the first time is Richard Mellors who has finally broken through after falling at the final hurdle twice previously. Richard defeated Bob Kinlock, a perennial finalist in B Grade, in another tight finish where the lead swung back and forth throughout the match until Richard prevailed 2 and 1. The C Grade champion, Charlie L Roy, is also a novice winner of a championship and at only fifteen and a half years of age is likely to go on and win many more across all grades. He defeated Allan Goss, runner-up for the second year in a row, after a close first eight holes after which Charlie went on a rampage winning five holes in a row, winning 6 and 5. Congratulations to our three champions for 2015 and three cheers to the runners-up who provided stiff opposition.
